warning: At no point should you install chrome OS flex, his will wipe out any and all data on your hard drive and render it unrecoverable.

In this guide we will cover all the steps needed to use the Chrome Flex USB. This process allows for secure access to the Ractsol infrastructure, enforcing end point protection, access control, encrypted data transfer via secure VPN, and generally increases our corporate security posture in our continued effort to promote good cyber hygiene and CMMC compliance. This USB is a quick disconnect, with the USB plugged in it will boot Chrome OS and when taken out will boot your native OS you have installed.

Preparing the pc to boot from USB

  1. Insert USB into any USB type A port.
  2. Turn on your computer and load into BIOS (note: the buttons for bios are usually escape and F2 depending on the manufacturer of your computer)
  3. In BIOS locate your boot options in most cases there is a tab located at the top of the screen called boot or boot options
  4. Set your boot option #1 to the USB.
  5. Then save and exit BIOS.
  6. If you followed all the instructions listed above the computer will cycle and boot into Chrome OS.

  1. Once you reach the initial Chrome OS screen it will ask you if you would like to install the full edition of Chrome OS or try it first. Please make sure you pick “Try it first” if you choose to install the full OS you will overwrite whatever OS you had previously on your normal boot drive!
  2. Once you have selected “Try it first” connect to the internet with whatever WIFI or hardwired connection you have
  3. Then accept the terms of use and sign in with your Ractsol credentials. Please note this USB is used for official business use and will have Ractsol VPN connected.
  4. Once you have successfully signed in using your Ractsol credentials please verify your VPN is on, you can check this at the bottom right corner of your screen just like Windows.
  5. Once you have verified that you are connected to VPN you are all set!
